Veedersburg – John A. Nelson, 83, a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge for the past 60 years died at his home in Veedersburg Sunday morning at 9 o’clock of infirmities. Born May 5, 1862 in Hendricks County, Ind, he was the son of Leander and Anne Allen Nelson.  He was twice married, first to Effie Fisher and following her death to Mattie Black who survives. Other surviving relatives include a son, Ralph Nelson of Veederburg by the first marriage, a daughter, Mrs. Katherine Markle of Terre Haute and a son, Walter Nelson of Lafayette by his second marriage, also several grandchildren.  He was a millwright having operated a mill at Lebanon, Converse and Kingman.  He was an active member of the First Christian Church. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Fishero Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Chelan officiating. Interment was made in the Rockfield Cemetery. – kbz
